Registered Nurse – RESPONSIBILITIES (listed are included but not limited to)

Shall provide hemodialysis to both inpatients and outpatients.
Hemodialysis for critical care patients is done in the critical care units. All other patients are transported to the dialysis unit.
Shall provide comprehensive nursing care to patients with end-stage renal disease who are being maintained by intermittent hemodialysis and/or peritoneal dialysis in either a chronic unit setting or a critical care/acute care unit setting.
- Either area requires the nurse to provide treatment utilizing the nursing process, according to the written procedures and policies of the hemodialysis unit.
The dialysis nurse is required to perform hemodialysis via a fistula, graft, or venous catheter.
