AGS is seeking an Licensed Mental Health Counselor for our team.
This position is under the direction of the Director of Mental Health and/or Health Services Administrator. Provides assessment, diagnostics, treatment planning, individual and/or group therapy to patients at the Osceola County Jail as part of an established mental health care program. This position is assigned to both inpatient and outpatient clinics within the jail. This position also takes call on a rotating basis (if licensed).
This is a “mandatory-testing” position that requires Drug Testing.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
Follows all standards and patient care protocols, all federal, state, correctional health care standards, and the Osceola County Board of County Commissioner’s policies, regulations, and guidelines
Collects data about patients through interview, case history, psychological tests, and/or observational techniques; evaluates data to identify causes of problems and determines proper therapeutic approaches or referral to other specialists
Provides counseling, therapy, and/or psychotherapy to patients as appropriate to the position
Prepares treatment and follow-up programs
Provides therapeutic crisis intervention and emergency services as required
Responsible for complete and accurate documentation of care provided in the inmate’s health record
Maintains health services records logs and assists with data entry within the scope of mental health related items
Consults with other practitioners and related staff, as appropriate in the performance of therapeutic duties and/or casework
Follows up to determine reliability of treatment used and changes methods and degree of therapy when indicated
Participates in the review of clinical issues and program policies and procedures
Facilitates and participates in inmate educational health programs
Participates in continuing education and in-service training to maintain professional capabilities and proficiency
Answer calls during on-call rotation and may be required to work nights/weekends
Performs other related duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Must possess credentials to practice in the state of Florida.
