AGS is Seeking a Registered Nurse for our team.

This position is under the direction of the Nurse Manager and follows medical orders from physicians and mid-level providers. It provides holistic nursing care to patients in a correctional setting.

This is a “mandatory-testing” position that requires Drug Testing.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

Follows all standards and patient care protocols, all federal, state, correctional health care standards, and the Escambia County Board of County Commissioner’s policies, regulations, and guidelines

Participates in the screening, evaluation, assessment and health care of inmates, whom may be seen in clinics, sick call, the infirmary, and confinement

Initiates appropriate actions in emergency situations

Performs specific nursing tasks, such as intravenous insertion and care, venipuncture, and vital signs

Responsible for complete and accurate documentation of care provided in the inmate’s health record

Maintains health services records logs and assists with data entry within the scope of nursing related items

Supervises and coordinates Licensed Practical Nurses and paraprofessional nursing staff with professional nursing functions to ensure an efficient working environment

Coordinates with medical, dental, mental health and ancillary personnel, as required, to ensure continuity of care

Maintains accountability of all controlled substances and prescription medications according to federal and state laws and organizational regulations

Participates in the monitoring, requisition and documentation of the use of medical supplies and equipment

Facilitates and participates in inmate educational health programs

Participates in continuing education and in-service training to maintain professional capabilities and proficiency

Participates in the training and orientation of new employees

Performs other duties as assigned
